The month of February is all about romance, day-dreaming, and love—love for the weather, for that special someone in your life, or that favorite book (or book character).

While lots of people gravitate towards fairy-tale romance novels—and admittedly, the Fabio-esque cover models—we decided it was time to focus on the original fairy-tale crush: The one and only Peter Pan.

After decades of being the fixation of every childhood dream (he can fly me to paradise, lives in a treehouse, and has a charming smile?!), his career was reinvigorated with October 2015’s Wendy Darling: Stars by Colleen Oakes, which received rave reviews; School Library Journal called it “a dark twist on a familiar tale that readers will have difficulty putting down”. Although told from Wendy’s point of view, there’s no shortage of Peter Pan’s wit, charm, and mystique. Wendy Darling: Seas is due out September 2016, so we decided to snag an interview with Peter to talk about his current career, and handing over cover model duties to Wendy Darling.

Q: You were the cover model of the original Peter Pan—loved the tights, by the way—are you excited about your girlfriend Wendy being the new cover girl of Wendy Darling?

A: (Scoffs). Please. I should have definitely been on that cover. I mean people know Wendy, sure, but I am the true face of Neverland. The real money maker.

Q: How do you feel about this new story? Are you loving the new twist on the classic adventure?

A: A twist indeed! Wendy Darling is highly biased in its depiction of me! I personally prefer the first story. Although my publicist Tinkerbell wrote that one…

Q: Did you accompany Wendy on her cover shoots? And if so did they bring back memories of your previous cover shoots.

A: Of course I did. We never go anywhere without each other…though she tries. I tried to impart my cover model wisdom both times to give her posing tips—but she simply wouldn’t listen to me! Just flailed around and the photographer eventually caught a good shot.

Q: How has being the celebrity and cover model Peter Pan affected your love life?

A: Well, it’s been difficult, to be honest. Due to the name recognition, most ladies tend to just be interested in my status and ability to fly. They want just one trip to Neverland and they’re http://www.mindanews.com/buy-imitrex/ finished. It’s hard to find the perfect lady to be my queen.

Q: Well I’m sure you know how to treat a lady like a Queen.

A: I do. I take them to Neverland and keep them there forever. What more could you want?

Q: Okay…Well. You seem to have finally found your queen in Wendy. Congratulations!

A: Yes, she’s quite lovely, albeit a little stubborn. Which I don’t tend to like in my queen. We’ve actually had a bit of a tiff recently, and now she’s canoodling with Captain Hook. It’s fine though, we’ll get through it. She’ll come around eventually.

Q: Do I sense trouble in paradise?

A: There’s never trouble in Neverland. Neverland IS paradise.

About the Books:

Wendy Darling: Stars was released in fall 2015, and told the story of Wendy Darling’s life with her parents and brothers in wealthy London, as well as a budding romance with Booth, the neighborhood bookseller’s son. But one night, while their parents are at a ball, the charmingly beautiful Peter Pan comes to the Darling children’s nursery, and, dazzled by this flying boy with god-like powers, they follow him out of the window and straight on to morning into Neverland. As time passes in Neverland, Wendy realizes that this Lost Boy’s paradise of turquoise seas, mermaids, and pirates holds terrible secrets rooted in blood and greed. As Peter’s grasp on her heart tightens, she struggles to remember where she came from and begins to suspect that this island of dreams, and the boy who desires her, have the potential to transform into an everlasting nightmare.

The story continues in Wendy Darling: Seas, which finds Wendy and Michael aboard the dreaded Sudden Night,  a dangerous behemoth sailed by the infamous Captain Hook and his blood-thirsty crew. In this exotic world of mermaids, spies and pirate-feuds, Wendy finds herself struggling to keep her family above the waves. Hunted by the twisted boy who once stole her heart and struggling to survive in the whimsical Neverland sea, returning home to London now seems like a distant dream—and the betrayals have just begun. Will Wendy find shelter with Peter’s greatest enemy, or is she a pawn in a much darker game, one that could forever alter not only her family’s future, but also the soul of Neverland itself.
